MOROCCO 6 DAYS TOUR FROM MARRAKECH
DAY 1: MARRAKECH – HIGH ATLAS MOUNTAINS – OUARZAZATE – DADES GORGE:
Departure from the hotel or the airport in Marrakech at 8 am and travel to the High Atlas, the foothills of the Moroccan Atlas Mountains, through the port of Tizi N’Tichka with stops for panoramic views and photography of the small Berber villages. We will then continue south to the ksar (fortified village) of Ait Ben-Haddou, where we will visit the famous Kasbah, (declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1986). Several films like Gladiator, Obelix, The Mummy, The Pearl of the Nile, and The Sahara with Penelope Cruz, etc…, all have been filmed in this spectacular scene. Free time for lunch near the Kasbah. We will then continue to Ouarzazate, also known as the Gate of the Desert. There, we will see the Taurirt kasbah, one of the most impressive kasbahs in Morocco. The next place to visit will be the Valley of Roses, passing through the palm groves of Skoura, a wonderful place to contemplate the more than 700,000 palm trees and the many kasbahs built in the surrounding area. Damask roses are grown in this valley for cosmetic purposes, such as obtaining valuable rose water. Finally, we will continue our road to Dades Valley, where we will spend the night.
DAY 2: DADES VALLEY – TODRA GORGES – ERFOUD – MERZOUGA DESERT:
Here, we will continue our tour and visit the Todra Valley, a colorful and narrow canyon famous for outdoor activities lovers. We will then drive through the Ziz Valley to reach Erfoud, an oasis town known as the gateway to the Sahara desert and renowned for its unique fossils. There we will visit a local factory that produces handicrafts and house decorations made from fossils, there is also a local shop where you can buy these items as souvenirs. then we will continue to drive into the desert to reach Merzouga. Arriving at a checkpoint, we will leave the vehicle and start our camel ride through the desert dunes, accompanied by experienced guides until we reach the Camp, where we will spend the night in a luxury tent with a private bathroom. This spectacular night will be unforgettable with a unique and traditional Berber dinner by starlight, topped off with tribal music around a bonfire in the desert.
DAY 3: MERZOUGA DESERT – KHAMLIA GNAWA – MERZOUGA:
You should get up early to contemplate the most spectacular sunrise you have ever seen, on top of a dune near the camp, and enjoy this landscape. After sunrise, you will get breakfast before returning to Merzouga on camels. Then, we will cross Erg Chebbi, an extension of the sandy desert where Morocco’s Great Dune is over 250 meters high. Then, we will continue along the road, where we can see nomadic settlements and learn their secrets and manners. Our next stop will be at an observation point to contemplate the Erg Chebbi hole. Then we will reach the village of Kamilia, originally from Mali, where we will have a relaxing tea and listen to a concert of Gnawa spiritual music. Transfer to the hotel and have a free afternoon to enjoy the town or the dunes next to the hotel to admire the sunset. Dinner and overnight will be at the hotel.
DAY 4: MERZOUGA – MIDELT – IFRAN – FES:
After breakfast, we will start our day traveling through the palm groves of Tafilalet, the largest in the world. You will see thousands of palm trees along the 20km road. This route will lead us to the Ziz Valley, whose river descends from the high Atlas and feeds the palm groves, from this high observation point, we will enjoy magnificent views of the valley and the town of Aoufous. We will make another stop in Midelt, in the heart of the Atlas, where you will have free time for lunch and rest. After lunch, we will continue our journey through Cedar Forest, where we can see wild monkeys. The next place we will visit is the town of Ifran, located on the northwest slope of the Middle Atlas at an altitude of 1,630 meters above water level. Its wide avenues, urban development with perfect cleanliness, gardens, green areas, and architecture make it look like a Swiss town, That’s why it’s called Moroccan Switzerland. Around 6 pm, we will arrive in Fez, and spend the night in a Riad.
DAY 5: FES – MEKNES – VOLUBILIS – CHEFCHAOUEN:
In the morning, we will head the road to Meknes, where you will explore the Medina of Meknes with its beautiful tomb of Moulay Ismail, the barn and the Sehrij Souani, used for irrigation and planting, The Lehdim Square, and the Bab Mansour Gate. Then, we will visit the ruins of Volubilis, the ancient Roman capital of the African province “Mauretania Tinguitana”, famous for its mosaics very well preserved. Later, we head through the Rif mountains to Chefchaoune, where we will spend the night.
DAY 6: CHEFCHAOUN – RABAT-CASABLANCA:
After having a delicious breakfast, we will leave the blue city heading the road to Rabat which is the capital of Morocco, where we will visit Hassan Tower, It is an incomplete mosque intended to be the largest minaret in the world. Then, we will go to Oudaya Kasbah where you will find out the imposing gate of Bab Oudaya and the winding streets of the Kasbah that will take you to Rabat’s oldest mosque, beautiful gardens, and exquisite museum. After, we will go to our last destination, Casablanca. Where our 6-day tour from Marrakech ends.
