12 DAY MORROCCO TOUR ITINERARY

Day 1: Tangier – Chefchaouen:

Our 12-day tour in Morocco will begin from Tangier through the most beautiful part of the country, that will start from the beautiful city of Tangier through the Rif Mountains, which offer you an impressive combination of blue sea and mountains until you reach Tetouan, the pearl of the town with a strong Spanish influence and the beautiful Medina. In the afternoon, we will arrive in the beautiful blue city of Chefchaouen, where you will have the opportunity to walk around the unique city with its medina decorated with a combination of white and blue buildings, creative art shops, and the charming Uta el-Hammam square. We will take you to the hotel where you will spend the night.

Day 2: Full day to Explore Chefchaouen:

Today, you will have a full day to explore this charming city, with its steep, narrow, and white streets. And indigo buildings washed with lime. The Place Uta el-Hamman, the square in the heart of the old town, is ideal for a relaxed walk and is close to the Grand Mosque. Nearby are the Fondouk, the Kasbah, and the Museum. The medina with its maze of alleys, contains over 100 weavers’ workshops. Chefchaouen is famous for the woolen jellabas that are woven here. The Quartier Al-Andalus district also has decorated and painted houses.

Day 3: Chefchaouen – Volubilis Ruins – Meknes – Fes:

After breakfast, we will continue from Chefchaouen to visit the ancient Roman ruins of Volubilis, which are well preserved as they are recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and have many beautiful mosaics scattered, as well as gorgeous ancient columns and arches. After passing through the ruins, we will drive 30 km to visit one of the imperial cities, Meknes, the capital of the Ismailis, where we will visit Bab Al-Mansur, the Sahrij Suani pool, the royal stables, the attic and the mausoleum of Moulay Ismail. Then we head to Fez. Overnight at the riad/hotel.

Day 4: Sightseeing of Fes with a local guide:

After breakfast, we will have a guided tour of the oldest imperial city. It was founded in 808 as the first political, religious, and cultural capital. We begin our visit through the Golden Gate of the Royal Palace. Then, we will walk, experiencing hundreds of sensations that it causes. We will discover mosques, Madrassas(schools), caravanserais, and religious places until we get to the Tanners’ quarter. Free time for lunch, we continue to visit the artisans’ quarter. They brought their knowledge from Spain and have preserved Andalusian art and style to this day, giving Fez the well-deserved name of the city of artisans. After all, they would have the rest of the day free. Dinner and accommodation at the hotel.

Day 5: Fes – Ifran – Azrou – Monkey Forest – Ziz Valley – Erfoud – Merzouga.

After finishing breakfast, we will drive through Imuzzer to get to Ifran. The city is famous for its low temperatures, snow, and even Alpine-style houses. It is not surprising that it is called Moroccan Switzerland. Then, we will continue our road to the cedar forest, where Barberia macaques (wild monkeys) live. Feel free to feed them while walking through the woods. Later, we will continue to Midelt, where we will have free time for lunch. Then, we cross the Tizi-n-Tilgmt pass and drive along the Ziz Valley with scenic stops. Then, we head the road to the desert of Merzouga, you will be able to have a beautiful camel ride through the dunes, admire the majestic Sahara sunset, and continue to the camp, which is a combination of traditional nomad tents and luxury apartments, where you will enjoy the music of Berber drums, and dance by the campfire under the endless open starry sky. Dinner and overnight will be in the camp.

Day 6: Full Day In Merzouga:

We will wake up early to have the opportunity to see the sunrise and enjoy the landscape. After a hearty breakfast, we will ride our camels back to Merzouga, where our driver will be waiting for us. Then, we will continue along the road, where we can see nomadic settlements and learn their secrets and manners. Our next stop will be at an observation point to contemplate the Erg Chebbi hole. There, we can also see the limits between Morocco and Algeria. We will then make our way to the village of Kamilia, originally from Mali, where we will have a relaxing tea and listen to a concert of Gnawa spiritual music. Transfer to the hotel and have a free afternoon to enjoy the town or the dunes next to the hotel to admire the sunset. Dinner and overnight will be at the hotel.

Day 7: Merzouga – Rissani – Erfoud – Todra Gorges – Dades Gorges:

After a good breakfast, we will go to Rissani to visit the market and its famous donkey stand. It is a unique place where all the tribes and nomads of the desert come together to provide themselves with food, a very curious visit. After that, we will go to Erfoud, where we will visit quarries with fossils that are more than 380 million years old. We will continue our journey until we reach the famous Todra Gorges, a favorite place of climbers and trekking enthusiasts. We finish our day tour in the Dades Valley. Day 8: Dades – Valley of Roses – Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou – Ouarzazate _ Marrakech:

We will go to the Dades Valley on the “Thousand Kasbah Route.” We will drive through the Valley of Roses, where its inhabitants make creams, soap, and rose water. In Ouarzazate, we will get acquainted with the famous Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou (declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site). Several films, such as Gladiator, Obelix, and Sahara with Penelope Cruz, were shot in this exciting setting. Then, we pass through Ouarzazate and cross the Tizi-Ntichka pass (altitude 2260 m). Day 9: Visit Marrakech:

You will visit Marrakech city with a local guide, starting with the Menara Gardens with their pond, the Saadian Tombs, where the founders of the city existed, and the Bahia Palace, the residence of the former vizier. ; Koutoubia with its magnificent minaret, ending with the impressive Jamaa el Fna Square, which turns into a fabulous bazaar during the day, and at night into a magical spectacle. Overnight in the same Riad.

Day 10: Marrakech – Essaouira – Marrakech:

After breakfast, we will drive for a 3-hour drive to the port city of Essaouira. On the way, you will see the Argan trees, and then you will have an optional visit to an Argan oil cooperative, before arriving in Essaouira. Upon arrival, you will start a walking tour of the traditional harbor. Then, you will walk through arches and walls that belong to the XVIII century. The visit also has a stop for Dutch cannons directed toward the sea. You can also stroll through the market that exhibits oak products as the main handicraft of the city. Then, we will head the road back to Marrakech.

Day 11 : Marrakech – Casablanca – Rabat:

In the morning, we will leave Marrakesh toward Casablanca, the capital of Morocco, We will explore some spots of the city’s sites, like the largest Hassan II Mosque, which is unmissable. It is the largest mosque in Morocco, with the world’s tallest minaret at 210 meters. It is also the only mosque in Morocco that allows non-Muslims to visit. The United Nations Palace, and the Coastal Corniche. Then, we will continue to Rabat to spend the night in a nice hotel.

Day 12: Rabat – Asilah – Tangier:

After breakfast, You will explore the Hassan Tower. It is an incomplete mosque intended to be the largest minaret in the world. You will explore the Kasbah of the Oudaya, where you will find out the imposing gate of Bab Oudaya and the winding streets, before heading towards Tangier, stopping along the way to explore the city of Asilah.
