13 DAYS TOUR IN MOROCCO

DAY 1: ARRIVAL IN CASABLANCA:

We will start this tour of the historical heritage of the largest city in Morocco. We will explore some spots of the city’s sites, like the largest Hassan II Mosque, which is unmissable. It is the largest mosque in Morocco, with the world’s tallest minaret at 210 meters. It is also the only mosque in Morocco that allows non-Muslims to visit. The United Nations Palace, and the Coastal Corniche. Overnight in a Hotel.

DAY 2: CASABLANCA – RABAT – ASILAH:

In the morning, after breakfast, we will head to Rabat, the capital of Morocco. You will see the Hassan Tower. It is an incomplete mosque intended to be the largest minaret in the world. You will explore the Kasbah of the Oudaya, where you will explore the imposing gate of Bab Oudaya and the winding streets. Then, we will continue to Asilah City. Most of the journey will be along the coast. Asilah is known for its annual art festival, and the painted walls, drawn by famous artists from all over the world. Overnight will be in Riad/Hotel.

DAY 3: ASSILA – TANGIER CHEFCHAOUEN:

 After breakfast, we will continue our journey to the blue city of Chefchaouen. Along the way, you will enjoy some of the most beautiful landscapes of northern Morocco through the city of Tangier, where we will explore the beautiful Achakar beach, the famous Hercules Caves, and Cap Spartel. Then, we will continue through the Rif mountains to Chefchaouen. You will discover the true beauty that the blue city hides inside the Rif mountains has to offer like the Outta Hamam square. Overnight in Chefchaouen.

DAY 4: FULL DAY TO EXPLORE CHEFCHAOUEN:

 Today you will have a full day to explore this charming city, with its steep, narrow, and white streets. And indigo buildings washed with lime. The Place Uta el-Hamman, the square in the heart of the old town, is ideal for a relaxed walk and is close to the Grand Mosque. Nearby are the Fondouk, the Kasbah, and the Museum. The medina with its maze of alleys, contains over 100 weavers’ workshops. Chefchaouen is famous for the woolen jellabas that are woven here. The Quartier Al-Andalus district also has decorated and painted houses.

DAY 5: CHAFCHAOUEN – VOLUBILIS – MEKNES – FES:

After breakfast, we will leave Chefchaouen toward Volubilis ”the Roman Ruins,” to explore the well-preserved archaeological site. We will pass through the holy city of Moulay Idriss, continuing to Meknes, a historical city known for its grand architecture and imperial past. There, we will explore the medina of Meknes with its magnificent tomb of Moulay Ismail, the granary and the Sahrij Souani, used for irrigation and planting, the Lehdim square, and the Bab al Mansour gate. Then, we will continue to Fez. Overnight in a traditional Riad.

DAY 6: GUIDED TOUR OF FES:

After breakfast, you will begin exploring Fes, the “spiritual city of Morocco.” You will spend the entire morning exploring the old Medina, visiting most of the sites of cultural and historical interest – including the famous Al Karaouine Mosque and University (the oldest in the world), the Tanneries, and the Najjarine Fountain. After lunch, we will leave to see the gate of the Royal Palace, walk through the Jewish quarter “le Mellah,” and visit the pottery cooperative. Then, we will go to one of the fortresses to enjoy a panoramic view of the Medina of Fes. The night will be in the same Riad.

DAY 7: FES – IFRAN – MEDELT – MERZOUGA DESERT:

After breakfast, we will start traveling south towards the desert of Merzouga via Midelt and Errachidia. Your first stop will be the city of Ifrane, nicknamed “the Switzerland of Morocco,” then Merzouga via Midlet and the Ziz Valley. During this trip, you will get a glimpse of the Middle and High Atlas Mountains. You will stop in the famous cedar forest ( the largest in Morocco ), where you will have the chance to see the Barbarian monkeys. Along the way, you will notice that the landscape changes to reveal hints of the desert as you approach the town of Er Rachidia. After lunch in Midelt, the journey continues along the spectacular Ziz Valley, stopping for panoramic views. We will pass through Berber villages to Erfoud and then to Merzouga. In the afternoon, you will ride a camel to watch the sunset in the middle of the highest dunes in Morocco and spend the night there. Overnight at the desert camp, where you will dine and sleep in a luxury tent (the best chance to see the moon and stars shine), with traditional Berber music played by the locals.

DAY 8: ERG CHEBBI DUNES – BERBER FAMILIES – KHAMLIA VELLAGE – MERZOUGA.

 We will wake up early to have the opportunity to see the sunrise and enjoy the landscape. After a hearty breakfast, we will ride our camels back to Merzouga, where our driver is waiting for us. Then, we will continue along the road, where we can see nomadic settlements and learn their secrets and manners. Our next stop will be at an observation point to contemplate the Erg Chebbi hole. There, we can also see the limits between Morocco and Algeria. We will then make our way to the village of Kamilia, originally from Mali, where we will have a relaxing tea and listen to a concert of Gnawa spiritual music. Transfer to the hotel and have a free afternoon to enjoy the town or the dunes next to the hotel to admire the sunset. Dinner and overnight will be at the hotel.

DAY 9: MERZOUGA – RISSANI – TODRA GORGES – DADES VALLEY:

After breakfast, we will leave Merzouga Desert, and stop in Rissani, where we will visit the day market (Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday). From there, we will head to Erfoud, known for its fossil mining. We leave for the next destination, Tinghir and Todra Gorges, “the highest and narrowest gorges in Morocco.” You will have the opportunity to hike along its valley. We will cross the Dades Valley, where you will see the majestic sand castles and the beautiful rock formations known as “monkey fingers.” The night will be in a riad or a hotel in the heart of the gorge.

DAY 10: DADES VALLEY – OUARZAZATE – KASBAH OF AIT BEN HADDOU – MARRAKECH:

After breakfast, we will cross the Dades Valley, on the way to Kalaat Mgouna and Ouarzazate. The road through the Dades Valley is called the path of a thousand Kasbahs – offering many opportunities to take some of the best photos of the trip. We will stop at Kalaat Mgouna, “the city of roses,” to buy rose water, which will give your laundry a pleasant smell for a long time, and then we will continue to Ouarzazate, “the Hollywood of Africa.” Lunch at the famous kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, the largest kasbah in Morocco, recognized by UNESCO as a world heritage. It is known for having served as a setting for many films such as “Lawrence of Arabia” and “Gladiator,” Our journey will continue through the majestic Tizi ‘n’ Tichka pass (2260 m) through the High Atlas Mountains, where you can stop to discover the process of making argan oil in the women’s cooperatives before arriving in Marrakech.

DAY 11: GUIDED TOUR OF MARRAKECH:

On the morning of the next day, with a local guide, you will visit the Menara Garden, a pool surrounded by flowerbeds that function as an irrigation system for the surrounding fields. The sightseeing tour will cover some spectacular sights: the Koutoubia Mosque, the Majorelle Gardens, the Bahia Palace, and the Dar Si Said Jewellery Palace Museum. Upon request, lunch will be in the medina followed by a stroll through the colorful bazaars of Marrakech. Overnight in the same Riad.

DAY 12: MARRAKECH – ESSAOUIRA.

After breakfast, we will drive for a 3-hour drive to the port city of Essaouira. On the way, you will see the Argan trees, and then you will have an optional visit to an Argan oil cooperative, before arriving in Essaouira. Upon arrival, you will start a walking tour of the traditional harbor. Then, you will walk through arches and walls that belong to the XVIII century. The visit also has a stop for Dutch cannons directed toward the sea. You can also stroll through the market that exhibits oak products as the main handicraft of the city. Then, we will check in at the hotel. Free time in the afternoon.

DAY 13: MARRAKECH AIRPORT:

Transfer to the airport of Marrakesh. (depends on your flight’s time) and terminate the 13-day tour from Casablanca.
